BSc, M.A, PhD (Candidate)
Expressive Art Therapy Facilitator
Heinar Bolteya is a PhD candidate, a Counseling Psychologist and an Expressive Art Therapy practitioner. She obtained her BSc from York University in Canada, her MA from the American University in Cairo and is now pursuing her PhD in Expressive Art Therapy from The European Graduate School in Switzerland.
With diverse and extensive experience working in different settings such as therapy clinics, psychiatric hospitals and schools, she instantly realized that not everyone is able to express themselves solely through words. She recognized the huge need for an alternative form of therapy.
Over the past decade, Heinar has trained frontliners working with vulnerable communities on the use of expressive arts as a tool for self-expression. These trainings took place around the world including: Mexico, El Salvador, Tanzania, Nigeria, Palestine, Greece, Lebanon, Djibouti, Syria and Iraq.
After extensive practice in expressive art therapy and a decade of traveling the world as a humanitarian worker training others on the use of arts as a tool, she is now settling back in Egypt to offer individual and group sessions, this time integrating the arts.
Heinar supports her clients with the use of a holistic approach, that not only uses words, but also tools to connect with one’s body, imagination and creativity. Heinar helps her clients come up with new narratives through different tools such as embodiment, movement, art and drama.
Heinar works with adults, children and adolescents.
