Amira completed her Master’s degree (MSc) in Psychology at University of Vienna in 2019 after her Bachelor’s degree (BA) in Psychology at the American University in Cairo in 2014.
She currently works in both inpatient and outpatient settings at Behman since 2019 and mainly treats young people and adults who suffer from serious mental health issues such as psychotic and mood disorders, borderline personality disorder, depression, anxiety, addiction, as well as struggles such as low self esteem and dysfunctional relationships.
Amira works with the client centered approach, which focuses on the client’s strengths and abilities. She uses the eclectic approach and integrates cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) techniques as well as psychodynamic principles upon the needs of each client. She also holds DBT skills groups at the addiction department at the Behman Hospital. Amira counseled and supported migrant women from Arabic-speaking countries with family & marital problems in Vienna.
She strives to provide clients with an empathetic and non-judgemental environment to make them feel safe and comfortable in sharing their struggles. Amira is fluent in Arabic, English and German.
