Specialist Psychiatrist
Dr Sheir graduated from Mansoura University in 2012 and started his psychiatric training at The Behman Hospital in 2015. He became a registered practitioner with the General Medical Council while working in the NHS in the UK between 2019 and 2020, where he gained experience in forensic psychiatry and working with adolescents. Upon his return to Egypt, Dr Sheir rejoined The Behman Hospital where he is currently based. He obtained the membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in March 2022.
Dr Sheir has had extensive experience practicing across many psychiatric subspecialties, including general adult psychiatry, old age psychiatry, addiction, and learning disabilities. His particular areas of interest are anxiety and depressive disorders, personality disorders, psychotic disorders (including bipolar affective disorder and schizophrenia), and gender-related difficulties.
Dr Sheir strongly believes in the importance of upholding and respecting patients’ rights to autonomy and dignity, and is committed to these values in his practice. He also prefers to practice within multi-disciplinary teams as he believes in the benefits of collaboration between different mental health professionals.
